Fortune Cookie of the week

This is my fortune cookie of the week:

"Even the smallest candle burns brighter in the dark."

Why brighter?

Because of the contrast!

In the darkness of the depressing finals week,

I decided to be happy.

The ugly truth

One of my friend shared a way to find out a list of people that facebook thinks they are your closest friend.

Not that I believe it was true

however, the result was a little unexpected.

I have all the reasons to suspect how accurate it was

but something about it confuses me(and I'm not telling you what ;P)

Anyway,my lession is

don't be a creep, know people by interacting with them if you do care about them.

Eeven though I learned from game theory class,

information is power,

but doing it to ones you care is too cruel

both to yourself and others

Final Rendering

The animation gets into final stage

and I need to make sure every frames are pretty :)

I'm working on getting rid of the hot spots on the bird

maybe try by turn off emitting specular of the light in room

I'm going to work on shadows, too.

I'm going to add another light close to the window to fake the shadows.

Want to grow on the other side of the hill...

The nature teaches us how to survive.

The seed of grass must be really unlucky

to land on a wall.

It did not complain and suck it up(literally sucking nutrition from the wall)

to fighter for it's chance to be alive and thrive.

It's not pretty, but it's stronger any other.

Stable/Dynamic

A post in Paulo Coelho's blog interested me:

"Maybe we are all faced with a very serious problem, namely that although we have the opportunity to help one another, the truth is that few people let themselves be helped.
Why is that? Because they think they have “enough sheep”. They already know everything, they are always right, they feel comfortable in their lives.
Almost all of us are like that: we have many things but few aspirations. We have many ideas already sorted out, and we don’t want to give them up. Our life scheme is already organized and we don’t need someone trying to make changes."

I'm thinking about quiting the choir I has attended since I went Drexel.
The triger was, I did not get a solo four times in a row.

Frankly, I'm  a star, I want to shine and I will shine.

If I can't shine there,

I will find a place to shine.

On the other hand,

I should leave my comfort zone and find out more oppertunities out there.

So, I decided to move on~

Birds_movement

I spent a lot a time watching how bird move in real life

They tend to do a lot of things with their head and tail

I hope my animation reflects that:

You, Robot

Torso would store beverages on one side and hot snacks (fries) on the other
Robot would be on wheels
Needs to tell appropriate jokes
Needs a built in Taser for either rambunctious patrons or armed people in the airport
Encourages people to tip.
Has a built in vacuum on each hand; one picks up a tip, and the other cleans garbage
Has a TV screen for a face, displays appropriate images for the location.
EX: when asked, menu/flight times/ coming up comedians is displayed

Visibility

I was looking out from the train.

The sun casted reflection on the window

and caused distraction

I appriate the fact that some video games are trying to work those real world effects into games,

but distractions are distractions.

You don't want the players to focus on them.

09 Creativity Exercise

I got two colors: bell pepper and plump grape. Both of them sounded organic. I found bell pepper in a painting. I couldn’t find it in plants, because plants in autumn are darker in color. Plump Grape is really hard to match. It’s a highly desaturated color and lighter in tone then other dark colors, I tried fabrics, wood and many other things, but they did not match plump grape. I ended up taking a picture of plump grape color paper and wood further away, in order to put them in different lighting and match the tone as close as possible.

Fine Designer Crafts Show

We went to a fine designer crafts show on Saturday.

Charles was saying: “It will kill me just by walking around that place, so you can go in. And I will wait for you in the car.”

I gave him a really sad look and said nothing.

He was instantly defeated and said: “Fine, I will go in with you.”

The show displayed mostly pottery, jewelry, glass and wood designs.

I asked them their design processes and how they manipulated the materials.

I learned so much just by talking to them.

I think even though a cup, a table or a frame won’t be the star or prime model in a scene,

They can still be playful and stylish.

I will make sure that it will be reflected in my future animation settings.

The Cat

Charles has a cat.

She has round yellow eyes, black body fur and white paws.

Instead of meow, she will make a weird sound like meow without her mouth open.

I heard her favorite activity was chasing her own tail.

What a great metaphor for people is trying to catch something, but fail to recognize he is just going in circles.

The cat seems to be energetic all the time.

You can tell it by how straight her tail stands

The Verbal War

Charles is one of those guys who pretends he doesn’t like winning,

but he liked to win and hates losing.

I had friends like him, so I was not surprised.

At the thanksgiving dinner, Charles was bluffing about how he defeated me in a first-person-shooter game.

Of course, I fought back my juicy comments: “I don’t mind losing in games, as long as I’m winning in my real life; not like some people may win in video games, but lose in their real life.”

Everyone started laughing and Charles’ brother gave me a high five.

And of course, the rest of the conversation was all about Charles defended for himself for not being a loser.

However, since I control the flow of the conversation at the moment, I just followed up with more attacks.

He finally ran out of words and said “Whatever.”

Next time, he would need to be better prepared to argue with me.

The Flea Markets

Charles is good at finding valuable items in flea markets.

He got himself some Star Trek novels and models for cheap prices.

I found some photo books that I can use as reference for modeling and coloring.

I saw some exquisite car models that were inspiring, but I did not end up getting them.

I was surprised to find many good stuff there.
