Want to be ... on a journey

I want to be …

On a journey

To see vista that never see

To meet people that never meet

Nothing will be recorded

No memories will be remembered

I know I won‘t be possible to handle

all of the up and down of the mountains

But I want to be on a journey

A odyssey that will never end …

Review on: My "Dear" Boss

“My “Dear” Boss” is developed by Origaming Media and is free to play on Kongragate.com (see the link above). I often check games on Kongragate, because they are free and fresh. Sometimes I found amazing games on Kongragate, too.
“My “Dear” Boss” doesn’t have an original game idea, but it’s pretty good of its kind. Ever since “Flying Penguin”, people found kicking an object and make it fly entertaining. The game makes its goal to kick the abusive boss to home, hospital and eventually R.I.P. It just in the flavor of those abused employees, LOL. I always found the setting of the game is more important than the actual game mechanic. I'm going to break down to different aspects to talk about the game in detail.

It’s a 2-D mini game, so there isn’t too much graphic to talk about. Generally, the gloss on objects and buttons are believable. The boss will change poses when he is flying, so it’s less boring to look at. The animation of kicking the boss could be more believable or entertaining. A big issue I have with the game is the blockers on the streets (protectors, Crazy Ex-Employees, Construction Site) in the actual game. Those three different blockers have different way to get rid of and keep flying. It’s an awesome idea, but the boss often moves really fast and don’t know which blocker is blocking him. When you finally recognize which blocker it is, it’s too late to press button. It could be a game mechanic problem, but it could be fixed by giving more visual hints. The problem is the bars that show up when you hit the blockers are the same. If just making the bars look totally different, the problem above could be fixed easily.

Game Mechanics:

The game is interesting to play with at the beginning, but far lease engaging to play as the game goes on. It’s not the problem with this game, but this type of game more or less has the same issue. The objective of “My “Dear” Boss” is to kick the boss to a final point. In order to make the game longer, the game simply has a really long distance. It’s totally unnecessary. I was bored watching the boss going up and down for 5 minutes. I’m going to talk about how could improve this in the next section. The game has a little bit of level up elements, though I don’t know what the effect of some of the levelups is.

What I think the game could improve:

It’s still a pretty good game overall. Continue with last paragraph, there are still some other ways to lengthen the game without boring the audiences. Like, why is the employee only kicking a white boss’ ass? Could him have other bosses, when his first boss R.I.P.? Would the boss come back to him afterwards? If the game could let player choose different employees and bosses with different abilities, the game would be much longer, because player could experience among them. It’s totally practical and the game would have more variation. There are a lot of ways that the game could improve, looking forward to see if the game is coming back.

Thanks for reading!
